Have a relaxing weekend!

Today, I got back from a workout, and found my dawg lounging on my mom's bed. It's not too often in life that she's this still.

She's positively smyezing*!

My mom and I counted this afternoon, and Bailey has approximately 15 nicknames. FIFTEEN! Some of which include Bisky, Biscuit, Bails, Bailey Clause, and Fatty McPatty (Lord only knows how this one came about!). What do you call your pet besides its name?

* smyzing is "smiling wit'chya eyes." As coined by the one and only Tyra Banks.

Storage conundrums

Yesterday, I sorted through my jewelry to get ready to move into the sorority house. Saying space is limited would be an understatement. I told my friends if less clothing means more jewelry, then I might be leaving some t-shirts behind!

I'm leaving my jewelry box behind in favor of some more practical storage cases.
I've already got this closet hanger! It's about $14.99 from T.J. Maxx, and you can find them almost anywhere!

Ooh, something a bit more glamorous.

Check out this suction cup jewelry holder! What a novel idea!

At home, I just use a dish, much like the one below...

I've always secretly wanted a ring holder (they've always evoked such glamour and vintage style), and these bunnies are a fun take on the traditional hand! (pardon the tiny picture sizes.)

Urban Outfitters has some really cute jewelry holders that will have you oohing and ahhing for sure!

Movie trailers

I could see myself totally being into this movie when I was little. And ok, yeah, I'm probably still going to see it when it comes out.

On a completely unrelated movie note... A romance about two young lovers. Although it looks rathuh dramatic, I'd see it, if only because Ingrid's playing!

Anyone read "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?" I have not, but some of my best friends are really into the novels. No matter how many times someone explains the plot to me, I still couldn't tell you what it's about. IMDB explains it nicely as "A journalist is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing - or dead - for forty years by a young female hacker." Cool.

I quite honestly am not sure if one of these is the Swedish version that come out first in 2009. Get this: the author of the books died, and actually left the trilogy unpublished. It's a shame he couldn't live to see himself become the world's second best selling author in 2008 with 8 million copies sold behind the author of "The Kite Runner." Correct me if I'm wrong, because I would have thought J.K. Rowling would be up there. But perhaps she's in a league of her own.

New finds

I was in the city today for a taping of the TV show Windy City Live (!), and had a chance to do some shopping at Macy's and Nordstrom Rack! Check out these fabulous glitter pumps I got by Steve Madden. They're positively Cinderella shoes!

Betsey Johnson has the craziest cool jewelry! Such a fun giraffe ring!
All things fish are surprisingly versatile with outfits!

Major procrastination

The time has come: I have my first official assignment from my History professor. So what better way to celebrate than by baking a carrot cake, and making cupcakes with the leftover batter!

Here's the recipe!

And while I'm uploading, here are some of the shots from my time in Greece ;)

Looks like a boat advertisement, right?

My cousin and I swimming - one of my favorite shots from the whole weekend!

The most amazing chick pea soup recipe. Sweet Jesus, it was so good!

Nothing like some early morning shots!

The fam's gettin older, and we all gettin taller too! My cousin is going into high school, but I swear he'll be a perpetual third grader to me :)

This sums up the weekend nicely...

Christmas in August

Heavens! It's already August! Once again, I've missed my one and thirty-one only opportunities to have a "Christmas in July" party. *sigh. But! It's not to early to start thinking about Christmas presents! Yum!

So, as I sit down to order my school books, a Kindle's what's on my mind.

But then I'm reminded that the Nook is also on the market. Hmm... How to choose? With Borders closing (moment of silence, please), Amazon has the e-reader most guaranteed to outlast. Plus, my sister and mom also have Kindles, so we could book share! Can nooks do that? Which do you prefer? Thankfully I've got about four months to decide!

Tunes Tuesday

Happy day, y'all! Hope you had a good weekend. I had a lovely weekend spent on the Greek Isles. And by Greek Isles, I mean my cousin's lake house. It was full of book swapping, eating, and catching up with the fam! And you?

Alas, I'm at a bit of a loss for a Tunes Tuesday, seeing as I've been in a Greg Laswell rut lately. So, I've decided to share Maroon 5's new song.

The whistling is sweet, but the verdict is still out on the song as a whole.
